for art's sake...

Some slightly bored university students hire a van, park it outside an expensive hotel, and dressed in suits that say 'Furniture Removal Company', they stride into the lobby of the hotel and remove half the furniture....in order to use it in their own, otherwise empty, apartment.

Is this theatre? Or pure theft?

If we then add in that they sold the furniture a few years later when they got sick of it -and one of the items turned out to be a pricey antique - does that change the nature of performance and/or theft?

Want to know the context for this story? Well, don't worry, i didnt try it. But my theatre lecturer did when he was a student in Chicago. He loves it! Apparently got away with it. And totally defends it as theatre!

Wonder how well that argument would go down in a court of law...

Are you serious - it's straight theft and the joker is kidding himself!
Woody spoke on 1 Sam 15 today, and talked about how sin is so deceptive it can blind us to its severity and even its presence.
I wonder what fundamental ideological misunderstandings get you to the point where you can think that is ok to explain it away as 'art'. I wonder what other areas of his life would be influenced by those same ideologies?

I wonder what mine are that make me do (and justify) some of the things I do?...

We were all pretty much sitting there in class while he's boasting about this little story, thinking no, that would be theft!!

Sadly, there are a number of misunderstandings that become evident in discussions we have in our tutorial...makes it an interesting class, but it is sad to hear...and especially to see him laugh or shrug it off...

He told us other stories too, thats just the half of it!

anyway, can only pray for him and that God will use us Christians in the class...

And thats a good question to ask ourselves too JT.
I wonder what it is that make me justify things too....

hmm maybe if u think of any let me know and i will do my best to keep you accountable with those things brother!

anywho..thanks for thoughts!
